Dan's settings didn't change the problem for my Nokia 6 on Android 8.1. I think
that maybe the app permissions are causing the problem. Can anyone with a
working K9 confirm if K9 got the following permissions:
Setting -> Apps -> App Permissions -> Additional Permissions:
- Read emails
- Read

I will add that I'm running Android 8.1 on a Pixel XL and am not
experiencing this issue, never have other than the initial work on the
battery optimization setting. So, if you have everything set properly it
is a specific phone issue I guess since K9 does run on Oreo.

Are your settings for Fetching mail set properly? All folders, sync timing
(mine is every 10 minutes), size limit (any size).

Here's a message I've posted multiple times to the list explaining
exactly what settings made things work for me on a Galaxy S7. I haven't
seen anyone say that they tried these exact settings and still had a
problem. I've been using these settings for over a year now and they
continue to work
If you would read my post from 2 weeks ago: yes of course I did. Everything
is set on always on, no sleep mode, no battery regulation - K9 has all the
settings that worked on S7 and Nougat. With the S9 and Oreo this app ist
just not working anymore - it's a simple fact that K9 is dead there.
I'll throw this out there even though I know that it's not universally
applicable. I'm using a OnePlus 3T. k-9 is not battery optimised.
I use Automagic (it's like tasker) to run a profile every hour that checks
to see if the screen is turned off (i.e., I'm not actively using the phone)
and, if
P. S. The name calling is totally uncalled for. How childish.

Have you taken K9 off the battery optimization list? If it's battery
optimized, it won't sync.

Well, if you are such a smartass then be happy. I browsed every forum and
help I can find to figure out why K9 is NOT synchronizing on Samsung S9
anymore - but nobody was able to tell me and every suggestion wasn't
working on the S9.
Unless you have a S9 with K9 working flawlessly then you can
I have answered MANY questions. Am continually amazed by those that can't do a
simple search of the forum for answers and figure out what their issue is. Am
also particularly amazed by those that expect something for absolutely NOTHING!

Sorry, but it's not my job to help you figure out what I figured out. Good day!

Never mind Mathguy.
When you have been around this sort of forum you'll understand why they
exist.
Not for people who don't care.
It is for people who do

Some time ago the developer sold AquaMail to MobiSystems
What is the point of your post? Frankly, I don’t care if you move on. I’ve
tried AquaMail and didn’t like it at all. Funny how that is...people having
different optinions about things. The difference is that I didn’t go out their
forums and whine about it. I’ve used K9 for over a decade
Two days on and total satisfaction with AquaMail.
Easy to install and when there is something I don't understand I put a
question on their forum and an answer comes back within hours.
Overnight the developer has been through the forum and added help to about
six messages.
I'll put AquaMail
K9 Mail was working fine on my Android 7 Samsung S7, no issues with sync,
even during night.
On the new Samsung S9 with Android 8 the same K9 settings and Android
settings (no sleep mode for K9, always fully up and running, etc) it does
not sync mails anymore. After one POP pull the message
Hello all
I encounter exactly the same problem on my new Samsung A5 2017, even with the
latest version of K-9.
Before having my A5, I had a Samsung S4 Mini, and it has been running perfectly.
Is there a know way to fix this bug?
Thanks!

Follow-up to my first answer:
Yesterday, I happened to look into app-store. And behold: there was an
update for k9. It must be quite new; as it is only a few days ago where I
got my new mobile and did the original downloads.
So: first thing: get this update.
Best regards

Hello,
in fact I had the same issue on a Samsung Galaxy A3 (2017) with Android
