Address bar by default follows search engines set in web search bar. To change
this behavior, check Preferences -> Tabs -> Address Bar -> Search with Default
Engine.

I checked that my computer and the mount are synchronized.
But I think that I found a good track pointing the culprit and you can check it
with the KStars simulator.

When the headphones are connected, BlueZ will automatically register those
buttons as virtual keyboard, so it should work just fine without any special
support on Plasma side.

Hmm, so the problem seems to be that the desktop grid effect eats ctrl release
event. So, after you leave desktop grid, plasmashell thinks that Ctrl is still
pressed.
