I don't see much use for this. The display is just the ledger for the Payee,
so all transactions for that Payee are displayed. Is there any strong downside

Yes, I believe that Elisa only stores statistics for files that are indexed.
Since you are dragging and dropping, I'm guessing your songs are not in a
