Hi,
you can initialize a git repo with sha256 object format like this:
git init --object-format=sha256
It should work with git >= 2.30.0
Kommit crashes even on an empty repo.

Indeed, having a fontconfig file there _at all_ seems to cause stability
issues. I got a lot further with anti aliasing on but had to remove it
altogether to stop the stability issues entirely.
