For me, the question is more, why your images were all gone now. It was
possible to write-protect database by changing mount options through the update
of Tumbleweed. But why should it have emptied the database? Pre

The database is on a network drive (as are all the photos), but I really can’t
remember when I made it write-protected or why.
Digikam opens ok now, but no photos show for the collection that was there

The question is, why was the database write-protected? Is it on a local or
network drive? Otherwise start digiKam in the console and post the messages
here.
