What we could probably do is add a "Run <thing>" menu item at the top of the
menu if it's a desktop file or an executable. Thanks to
https://cgit.kde.org/plasma-desktop.git/commit/?id=d75a37b58992fe10718a1bee08cab9a085f27eb2,
we can now do this in only one place in KIO, and Dolphin and Folder view will
both get it automatically.
