One thing that might or might not be relevant: I had to manually enable TRIM
for this device as it's not officially supported due to the USB/SATA bridge
used. TRIM is done periodically via systemd. However, no

IMPORTANT UPDATE: Lo and behold, this is crazy. I just found a hidden folder
'.Trash-1001' (1001 apparently being my UID) in the root folder of the SSD, and
it contains the entire contents of the source folder
