I tested with an external DAC + AMP, (which Blue Yeti has internally) and it
seems to work fine with balanced audio out to my headphones with no issues. So
this also eliminates any problem with the PC (mobo)

It seems the problem may have been caused by looping/folding a long cable
together, which could have resulted in some elector-magnetic interference.
I am continuing to monitor if this is actually the case.
