Two questions:
- does the crash happen in any folder, only in specific ones (like one
starting with smb://)
- Can share the list of you enabled thumbnailer (in dolphin > preview), as a
screenshot for instance

I used the Signal Desktop Messenger (Flatpak) for this and can reproduce a
crash on an up-to-date system when trying to save a file from a chat.
Opening/selecting files on the system doesn't seem to cause an issue.
