But I am not suggesting that the window should leave the work area. All I'm
asking for is that it is allowed to extend to the bottom of the screen.

It makes little sense to me that a window is allowed to go beyond the edge of
the screen horizontally, but is not allowed to go beyond the taskbar
vertically.

What I'm asking for is allowing the bottom of the window to go to the bottom of
the screen. This will not cause the window to go off-screen, as long as you
keep track of the top. This is also something that is alr

KWin keeps windows in the work area on purpose as far as I know. The reason for
that is to ensure that no window gets off-screen.
