If you have a previously connected audio device and you set it as your default
then upon disconnecting it it will be left as the default and the global mute
and unmute controls no longer affect any of the devices left.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Connect a USB microphone
2. Select it as your default microphone
3. Disconnect it
4. Toggle Microphone mute
OBSERVED RESULT
The microphone mute OSD is displayed but the built-in microphone (the only one
left in the system) is not muted.
EXPECTED RESULT
A new default input device is selected and the mute operates correctly.
