...on a skylake 64-bit 11.2-RELEASE the above mentioned crash does not occur.
Note I mostly use vim + Nvim-R nowadays.

Rkward starts, R console works OK, but it crashes after confirming certain menu
dialogs such as "summary statistics", reporting a "Trace/BPT trap (core
dumped)".
Note this could be a VM issue, as
