In my work, I have found unittests (and test driven development, but this mail

I would like to discuss the packaging policies of Kdenlive.
I don't see many distributions providing efforts to package Kdenlive
cleanly, with all latest MLT and ffmpeg codecs, appart for Marillat
Debian-multimedia and Gentoo exceptions.

This is why I propose to make static build of MLT including ffmpeg and
other libraries. Static builds are a good solution

I am currently using KDENLIVE 0.7 svn on Ubuntu (not KUbuntu) 8.10
with big success.
So, as first thing, i want to express my huge appreciation to the
developer team.
Maybe you haven't realized yet that KDEnlive is THE video editing tool
under Linux. So keep up the good work!

updated svn sources (updated this morning at about 9.30 am CST) i

provides static binaries to avoid ffmpeg version problems and

According to him, it should be possible to link mlt staticly and provide
a larger binary, but including all latest features and codec
openSUSE packages are provided by the packman project. I mailed
directly to the packager witch kindly answered in some hours.
kdenlive packages on packman are release-following but i can try to

patches bleeding edge.
