This is something that is absolutely needed for every cut and should be
available without having to go to the mailing list...

This is an incredibly useful feature I know from some other software and it
makes finding cut points much easier: stop the playhead, then jump back to
the last position, where playback started.
This can be done by adding a marker to every start position, but this is
not the real thing and
thanks for your hint, it is not quite the same as I described but comes
quite close. A cut performed this way still leaves a lot of room to
manually clean up, what is ok, but it would be better if there existed a
more high level semantic of "change active track".
BTW re crash course -
Locking a whole rack makes sense in a certain state of editing. But to get
to that state, one will work a lot on individual clips - but I do not see
any way to lock the individual clip after work on that clip has been done
and the editor wants to prevent accidentally doing anything to that clip,
Can I write e.g. a Python script to do things in Kdenlive?
I can not find any instructions about any kind of scripting n the obvious
places... was that feature really forgotten? In an open source video
editor? I hope I am wrong with that guess...

I am using the latest 19.08.1 and I can see no "processing audio" message.
Also the final message disappears after a few seconds, so you can guess
that something happened if you remember the position of clips exactly - not
really usable with more than ten clips...
Re "no feedback means no error" -
OK, so I found the multicam view, it shows me multiple tracks in the
monitor, very nice!
Also I was able to align all clips on all tracks, thanks to the great audio
alignment feature and because Eugen told me the secret of how to move clips
by frames with the keyboard.
Now everything is ready for
I never see "processing audio" in the status bar. The only message I see
there during the whole process is "Audio analysis finished" after selecting
"Set Audio Reference".

If there is no 'processing audio' at the status bar, then is done.
If there is no alignment of the video, then it failed.

Yes, it is running in the background, that is the reason why the GUI needs
a visual feedback about the current status of that process because the user
can not understand what is happening in the background. You can find this
pattern in many applications and it is good practice to implement this

Select a clip -> shift G (grab) -> left/right arrow key -> moves the

Do you first set the audio reference?
The audio reference task is done at background and at the status bar, left
bottom corner it says...
When you align the track, it moves... and you can clearly can see when it
moves.. and while doing the analysis, again there is the status bar at left
bottom...
I can hide the timeline as you said.
But mos frequently I just mate the timeline really small by dragging it
down or making the tracks smaller
I reach out the mouse to to the area just below clip monitor and the icon
change and I make it smaller or use the button to increase or decrease the
size
This seems to be a bug: as I do not want to fiddle around with login
theater right now it would be great if anybody would like to add this to
the bugtracker:
The "Align to Audio" feature does not generate any kind of visual feedback

There is no timeline toolbar in the "Settings - Toolbars Shown" menu - this
seems to be a bug?

Hi,
I do not understand how to accomplish this basic task with Kdenlive.
I need to position a clip frame accurate so it is synced with audio of
another frame.
Unfortunately the "Align to audio" feature does not work on that clip
because the audio material is very bad - it worked for one other clip
