I experienced some more crashes right now and I am pretty sure they are related
to the fact that a fat 15MB mail was lingering in my Inbox which was first
downloaded and then Kontact

Not easily, but Kontact (Kmail) crashes from time to time after I notice that I
can not view any email from an IMAP account (presumably because the kio_imap4
is hanging), but it does not
