In my case the solution was to downgrade several packages via:
sudo apt install mariadb-common=1:10.5.18-0+deb11u1
mariadb-server-core-10.5=1:10.5.18-0+deb11u1
mariadb-client-10.5=1:10.5.18-0+deb11u1 libmariadb3=1:10.5.18
google apps domain username as I was too lazy to get all the
config details from googles help pages.
However it is easily detectable if a domain is using google apps by querying
the mx dns records which are the same for all google apps accounts and look
like this:

The kdesvn-build script (now kdesrc-build) made it really easy for me to fiddle
