@5: Ah ah, indeed, searching against "All Recipients" triggers the bug again.
Also, the error message seems to open even when I'm reading individual messages
in any GMail folder,

Hoo boy. I didn't change a thing (same config, no upgrade, not even a reboot)
and now it works again, after misbehaving for a few days. Odd.
