The relevant name is std.vcf. In its details, it says

I copied a full std.vcf_X onto std.vcf, and all seems well (except for that
little part where new contacts aren't saved). I'll check up on the different
types of address books --

I don't think it's a migration issue -- I'm on Debian Sid, and I'm pretty sure
the move from 4.3 to 4.4 was long before the last month.
