In any case, if this is implemented, it will not be before the akonadi POP3
resource is integrated in kmail, around kde 4.4 or kde 4.5.

I don't think this will ever be implemented in KMail, maybe devs don't see or
feel the need for it. If you want to use Kmail, try to find an IMAP server.
