Bug ID: 461088 Summary: Mid-eastern characters (like Arabic) do not fit in the vertical space for the characters in the message list, resulting in broken viewing and unreadable text Classification: Applications Product: kmail2 Version: 5.21.2 Platform: Neon OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: message list Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org Reporter: thebluequa...@mailo.com Target Milestone: --- Created attachment 153245 --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=153245&action=edit screenshot 1 kmail message list doesn't display mid-eastern characters correctly Summary: Mid-eastern characters – such as Arabic, Persian, Urdu, Pashto, Kurdish, etc. – do not fit in the vertical space for the characters in the message list, resulting in broken viewing and unreadable text Extra info: Seems like the Mid-eastern characters have been given some extra vertical space recently – see second screenshot – across many apps in KDE Plasma. However, this seems to have resulted in text in these characters to be incorrectly displayed in KMail's message list, with text barely visible – see the first screenshot (the title of the email is "اللغه العربيه" if it matters) Steps to reproduce: 1- copy or type in the message title in Middle-eastern characters such as Arabic and send it to your inbox, 2- see the message title in the message list, after it arrives to your inbox in KMail 3- the title will be barely visible, as in screenshot 1 Observed result: Mid-eastern characters are not correctly displayed in the message list in KMail, with text in those languages almost unreadable Expected result: Mid-eastern characters should be displayed in a manner that's easily readable, perhaps by extending the vertical space allocated to the message with those characters in its title, in the message list, or some other solution System info: OS: Linux, KDE Neon User 5.26 (Jammy Jellyfish as base) KDE Plasma: 5.26.2 KDE Frameworks: 5.99 Qt version: 5.15.6 Kernel: 5.15.0-52 generic 64bit Graphic platform: Wayland, haven't tried X11 yet Additional information: I'm not at all sure what component is responsible for this issue, so I reported to the closest component I could think of. Please assign to any other component which you know is at fault. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
