Thanks for the quick replies, I really appreciate it.
In a normal scenario where my windows xp client is authenticating against (and getting
a ticket from) the linux KDC server, should I expect the ticket to be on the windows
java sdk's klist or on the linux server's klist? I am a bit confused
Judi,
There is a known problem with the pam_krb5.so.1 module on Solaris 9 with
SEAM 1.2.
If in your syslog, you see the following, then this is the known bug.
Sun has fixed the problem but I am not sure if they have released the
patch yet.

1) Can the user (once logged in) do a kinit? (If not check krb5.conf
permissions, and contents.)
2) Can the user (once kinit'ed) get a host service ticket? (Try
telnet'ing to yourself at the external network address. I think that

When attempting to telnet using the krb5 telnet that comes with SEAM and
a username and password that works with kinit, I get the following:
login: principal_name
Enter Kerberos password for principal_name: pw
Enter Kerberos password for princiapal_name: pw
authentication failed: Unknown code 2

Henry,
I checked all of the permissions, and they check out.
However, this does not fix the problem.

Windows 2003 Server has it own implementation of Kerberos V5 ( right ? ).
Windows 2003 Server manages the accounts into Active Directory.
We have a Linux MIT Kerberos Server.
MIT Kerberos has a user account database ( user = principals ? ).
