Same Problem here. Fresh install 13.04, can't do anything at the login
screen, Keyboard, Mouse, Network(both wired and wireless) are not

i thought i had solved this by replacing precise with raring and
updating kernel to 3.10 (see #48 above and the thread leading to it).
unfortunately, it is not the case. the wifi connection drops constantly
and pops a login window, actually dozens and dozens of login windows
(see attached).

Daniel, did you actually reinstalled Ubuntu in UEFI mode? because it
fixed the issue for me. Simply switching BIOS mode to UEFI mode doesn't
help. Your system still boots in Legacy mode. You have to have Ubuntu
installed in UEFI mode in order for brightness to work.

I tested with these kernels in both UEFI and BIOS (CSM) mode:
linux-image-3.8.0-27-generic (raring)
linux-image-3.8.0-29-generic (raring-proposed)
In all four cases, the backlight buttons do not work correctly.
