I have tested the display with both type of kernels. Unfortunately I see
no change.
Test1: Ubuntu Trusty Tahr with Ubuntu kernel 3.12.0-3-generic
Actual result: The original error message displayed by the monitor.
Expected result: Display Ubuntu desktop in 1920x1080@60Hz.
Test2: Ubuntu Trusty Tah
What I do not understand is why the original install worked. Shouldn't the
installer not use the same logic as the later apt-get?
So I leave this issue open for now.

packages right when i does that it closes b4 u get this u have a pop up error
program... then u have the options of "Leave closed" or "Relaunch" Eather 1

I tested with 3.11.0-12-generic and I don't see this issue - I guess
that gives us somewhere to start from!
