I have tested using the upstream kernel you recommended
(3.14.0-031400rc7-generic #201403162235), however same problem persist.
Strangely the error seems to always materialize at the 20 - 25 min mark
from boot. Then sometimes it will reconnect, sometimes not - but never
for more than 5 mi

Today's build (mar 17) I installed on a NFS shared location and after
the installation while bringing up the VM I see message "sda2: WRITE

Ok, this is occuring because the V2 VMs no longer have emulated hardware
during early boot. This means we need the virtio-modules drivers on the
CD for early boot. (The drivers identified above are on there as

Bios update did not improve the behaviour.
But I finally upgrade kernels to 3.8 (after a complete backup) and no
more freeze since this upgrade (http://askubuntu.com/questions/119080
/how-to-update-kernel-to-the-latest-mainline-version-without-any-distro-
upgrade/142000#142000).
So for me
It's hard to reproduce this bug, thus I am not sure whether this would
help. I will keep monitoring for a while whether it occurs again, and if
not, close the bug. Otherwise I will do the tests you recommended.
