Some good results: the somewhat offending module was coretemp. (Here, I
have an Intel processor. On the computer, where there is no
crash/reboot, the processor is AMD, and there k10temp or k9temp module
is used. The other computer is fine with 14.04 (Trusty) and 14.10
(Utopic).)

And I needed to add "debug" kernel parameter as a workaround, otherwise
the boot was not stable during the early stage.

I am offline with the dlink connection, and apport-collect requires the
system to be online. I tried to separate the collection process from the
reporting process like this:

@Joseph, I can't really remember if there was a kernel upgrade shortly.
Sadly, my logs are only on tmpfs, so I can't even tell what upgrade
packages have been installed in the last days. I'll test out the
kernels, that are still installed, maybe 2-3 versions are still in grub
configured, to see if
I installed Kernel 4.3-rc2 but resuming after suspension gives me a
complete blue screen (see attached screenshot1-1) and have to reboot
with CTRL+ALT+F1 from command line, also terminal window is all garbled
(see screenshot1-2).

After a while, I got disconnected. Stopping and starting the WiFi
connection has not helped. The signal strength still is quite a bit
lower on Linux (64% with 4.2.0/-15) than on Windows (100% with
18.20.0_s64).

Thanks, I have begun the bisection on the kernel version level. I have one
question about it.
One of the versions I tried did not work at all (graphics didn't display).
Should I label and keep moving on from there or try adjacent versions to this
one until I find one where the
