Is this still helpful given the move from xorg -> linux by Timo?
It seems more link a linux driver problem. I don't think I even have the
xorg radeon/ati driver installed. I did try installing it to see if it
helped but the suspend would still hang.

On my latest updated Ubuntu 16.04 with my Dell XPS 15 9550, the problem

Alright, a BIOS upgrade didn't help. Still crashes.
More or less it consistently fails after a day or two, but I have
noticed that if I use the wifi continuously for a long work-day, and
never allow it to sleep or never switch to ethernet, the wifi stays
running.
So, the crashes do seem tied to p
I've tested with 4.7-rc3. I first booted with this kernel without the
"splash" to make sure it booted, then I added back the "splash" and re-
ran update-grub, and booted that. That also worked. I verified by
examining dmesg that the vt.handoff=7 WAS present on the kernel command
line when it wor
So for anyone who was following, the answer from Dell (and huge shout
out to Steven from the Linux team there at Dell who called me direct)
Skylake is the problem, existing drivers no longer work with the new
chipset. Drivers are being re-written and its a work in progress.

I've tested with both v4.7-rc1 and v4.7-rc3 and saw the same results as
with the stock 14.04, 14.04.4, and 16.04 kernels. If it ever worked
properly, I'm not sure when it was. (We initially misinterpreted the
problem as a mis-labeled USB port, so I'm not sure how far back the
problem goes.)

Sadly no, I only saw it happen once and I have no idea what might have
caused it. The one and only time I saw it was with the 4.2 kernel,
though.

I tested 4.7-rc3 as it was the latest kernel at the time of testing.
According to the mainline kernel page rc4 was only released today.
