I have the same issue as #88 but with a Marvell 88E8040 internal
ethernet (Linux Mint 18 Sonya 4.15.0-29). Reverting to 4.13.0-45-generic
solved the problem.

I found the solution, at least, it works for me.
First of all I blocked amd64-microcode in modprobe.d with "install
microcode /bin/true"
Second, I added "option snd-hda-intel probe_mask=1" into /etc/modprobe.d
/alsa-base.conf
Now I have sound card and sound and latest kernel 4.4.0-131-gener

Some people there say that upgrading the BIOS to version 1.6 fixes the

I have a similar HP dc5800 machine. Booting from 4.15 kernel after
upgrade to Ubuntu 18.04 results in very quick kernel crash (less than 1
second), as does booting from the Ubuntu 18.04 "desktop" install DVD.
In both cases booting with "acpi=off noapic" added to the kernel boot
parameters works fi
