Hi, this issue affects my hosts as well. I have about 40 hosts running
Intel X550s that were working fine on kernel 4.4.0-141-generic with
regard to negotiating 10Gb automatically. Suddenly after booting into
4.15.0-43-generic they automatically negotiate at 1Gb. I have to use
ethtool to force them
I am not sure we could deterministically provoke the
issue. At the very least to ensure no other regression
was introduced, I would run it under heavy network load.

Node "amaura" cannot be deployed with Bionic / Cosmic / Disco image.
I tried to connect to the IPMI console, there is no output after the prompt:
Press to enter setup, Boot Menu, Network Boot
The system can be deployed with T/X without any issue, I tried to install

That affects all kernels, because that needs kvm modules parameter
enable_vmware_backdoor. I am not comfortable enabling that by default on
our kernels. We could enable that during the kvm-unit-tests. But for
now, on our own branch of kvm-unit-tests, I decided to simply disable
that test to be run

I suggest to enable CONFIG_EARLY_PRINTK_USB_XDBC and USB_XHCI_DBGCAP in
Bionic HWE kernels as this will allow to debug via serial console with a
simple USB 3 crossover-cable (aka "USB 3.0 super-speed A-to-A debugging
cable") without the need of a physical RS-232 interface.
