Installing Ubuntu 20.04 LTS does solve the trackpad issue together with the GPU
driver and audio. Unfortunately for compatibility reasons I have to use 18.04
so I guess I'm stuck with a mouse for now.

perfect. I have no problems moving that module to linux-modules.
FWIW, I missed this bug report because it was initially logged against
the linux package instead of linux-raspi.
