Yeah I used the wrong term. It solved my issue about needing to get work
done ;). Definitely not solved as I want to use the latest nvidia
drivers too.
My guess is there's older nvidia modules (520?) in the linux-modules
package, and then initramfs adds the new ones (525) causing some issues,

repository. The issue is not observed.

The terrible thing with compression is how we know of no universal rule.
I'm sure you can even find non-pathological cases where lz4 compresses
better than zpaq (and does so 100 times faster). And that's without
taking I/O into account (or filters).
An important thing to keep in mind here is t
@Russ W: Downgrading to nvidia-driver-515 avoids this issue or works
around it, but doesn´t solve it. One should be able to install nvidia-
driver=525 as with previous kernels I think.
The latest kernel I installed this weekend (5.15.0.58) also has the same
issue.

there downward, it seems you tried a different compression scheme and
found a smaller size in this case from zstd to xz.
