Christopher M. Penalver, not to be insistent, but I am part of the BugSquad and so far nobody said anything about closing a bug just because one of the affected users is not able to reproduce it.
The issue IS reproducible; if not by the original reporter, by 9 other people that have marked this bug as "it affects me". If nobody comes forward to provide information related to this bug, after 60 days the bug will be automatically marked as "Invalid", but not before. Nearly all the commenters are against closing this bug; what you are asking them to do is overflow Launchpad with duplicate bug reports: this would lead to a massive invalidation due to bug duplication and to extreme complications in handling the bug, because of infinite copies of the bug report in the system. This is how it works; please, do not change the status again. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Invalid => Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1172908 Title: [Vaio T Series SVT15112CXS] USB 2.0 Ports Don't Work Status in The Linux Kernel: Invalid Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: I have a Sony Vaio T-Series laptop. The usb 2.0 ports are not working, but the USB 3.0 port does. They appear in lspci and lsusb, but devices connected to them do not work. For example, a flash drive w/ a LED on it lights up and mounts on the 3.0 port but doesn't even light up on the 2.0 ports. There are no messages in dmesg when something is plugged into the 2.0 port. This behavior is the same on ubuntu 12.10 and 13.04. --- ApportVersion: 2.9.2-0ubuntu8 Architecture: amd64 AudioDevicesInUse: USER PID ACCESS COMMAND /dev/snd/controlC0: ubuntu 3244 F.... pulseaudio CasperVersion: 1.331 DistroRelease: Ubuntu 13.04 LiveMediaBuild: Ubuntu 13.04 "Raring Ringtail" - Release amd64 (20130424) MachineType: Sony Corporation SVT15112CXS MarkForUpload: True Package: linux (not installed) ProcEnviron: TERM=xterm PATH=(custom, no user) XDG_RUNTIME_DIR=<set> LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash ProcFB: 0 inteldrmfb ProcKernelCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/casper/vmlinuz.efi file=/cdrom/preseed/username.seed boot=casper quiet splash -- ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.8.0-19.29-generic 3.8.8 RelatedPackageVersions: linux-restricted-modules-3.8.0-19-generic N/A linux-backports-modules-3.8.0-19-generic N/A linux-firmware 1.106 Tags: raring Uname: Linux 3.8.0-19-generic x86_64 UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) UserGroups: adm cdrom dip lpadmin plugdev sambashare sudo dmi.bios.date: 03/13/2012 dmi.bios.vendor: Insyde Corp. dmi.bios.version: R1110D4 dmi.board.asset.tag: N/A dmi.board.name: VAIO dmi.board.vendor: Sony Corporation dmi.board.version: N/A dmi.chassis.asset.tag: N/A dmi.chassis.type: 10 dmi.chassis.vendor: Sony Corporation dmi.chassis.version: N/A dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnInsydeCorp.:bvrR1110D4:bd03/13/2012:svnSonyCorporation:pnSVT15112CXS:pvrC904W34T:rvnSonyCorporation:rnVAIO:rvrN/A:cvnSonyCorporation:ct10:cvrN/A: dmi.product.name: SVT15112CXS dmi.product.version: C904W34T dmi.sys.vendor: Sony Corporation To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/linux/+bug/1172908/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~kernel-packages Post to : kernel-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~kernel-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
