I just ran apt update && apt upgrade, noticed the dkms upgrade, rebooted
into 5.15.0-53-generic and still got a no-signal black monitor. See my
previous comment for hardware. Is the fix not out yet or was the
upgraded dkms package supposed to be the fix?

I too have the same problem on Ubuntu 22.04.1. If I boot into 5.15.0-53
I just a black screen but if I select the previous kernel in grub
(5.15.0-52-generic) then everything is normal.
