No, not similar. I get no messages on the screen. And the messages
recorded by the other user seem different from messages which I can see
in my syslog file. In my case the computer is not completely dead (there
are messages in the syslog file which confirm that e.g. WiFi connection

Hi, I have this exact issue, and I got to step 5, but secure boot is
preventing me from booting the new kernel, because it is unsigned. Is

I think this helps no matter the OS, I mean, "unices"...
I did that on fedora 29 modular. Delete every xorg.conf-files you can find.
$ sudo rm /etc/X11/xorg.conf
(on fedora there's one in /usr/share/X11 too)
($ sudo rm /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf)
Then restart the login manager (or reboot)
$ sudo
Oh, I'd like to add it isn't perfect yet, as it gets you to software rendering
on Cinnamon.
MATE+compiz should work fine. I'll confirm or infirm this later on.

I can't test this 3.13 kernel, as it has multiple other problems.
What I was talking about was the 4.4 Xenial kernel compiled with the

why it worked at all, but probably the HW was just breaking down slowly.
What finally helped was replacing my DisplayPort to DVI adapter for a
new one. This doesn't seem to be a software problem, as the latest

(linux-generic-lts-wily 4.2.0.30.24). I have removed Vivid kernel which
was very unstable on Supermicro X10DRW/X10DRW-i.

The system restarts regularly few times a day for no apparent reason
(can't provide steps to reproduce..).
