FYI, my laptop started suffering problems after a trip to New Zealand. It
started shutting down randomly every 10 minutes or so. Dell support had me
upgrade the BIOS. The laptop stopped rebooting, but then the touchpad stopped

I've run "sudo apt update", run "sudo apt dist-upgrade" and rebooted.

When I run "cat /proc/bus/input/devices", the touchpad is not listed.

I think this bug is mostly about the official AMD Errata 1109 "MWAIT
Instruction May Hang a Thread".
This is described here ( https://developer.amd.com/wp-

"Under a highly specific and detailed set of internal timing conditions, the

FWIW...Last night, I upgraded Debian9 from stock kernel 4.9 -> 4.18

Hi All...Have A315-41-R8UU Bios v. 1.11. What I have tested: Debian 9
Stretch [with firmware] kernel 4.9x, xfce4...This boots, without issue,
but haven't tested out it's stability long-term. No boot args needed.
Brightness controls do not work. Also tested openSUSE Leap 15, no boot
args, KDE editio
This also affects me on Ubuntu 18.04, kernel 4.15.0-39.
This issue is causing update-initramfs to fail since many of the
initramfs-tools hooks use cp -a and are unable to complete.

I started bisecting, but a colleague happened to find a work-around
which fixed the problem, so I stopped. You might update your bisection
page to mention that one should do bindeb-pkg builds, not deb-pkg. I
used the Ubuntu mainline git repository - is that any different from
Linus's repository?
Does anyone know of anything similar or possibly interesting kernel
commits to look at before I spend too long bisecting?

For me the power management isn't working, too.
The fan is always running and my notebook is getting hot.
I'm using Ubuntu 18.04 and installed the default nvidia driver 390.
My machine is an ASUS UX331UN with an nvidia mx150.
Currently my workaround is to install bbswitch and turn the nvidia
