Sorry I didn't answer before. The script by @rasch seems to have solved
the issue for me. I didn't have any problem with WiFi since using it
almost two weeks ago.

Thanks for the workaround @rasch, I'll try it.

I am sorry Joseph.
An update to my laptop's BIOS completely borked my Ubuntu 17.10

I don't think I can test the new kernel :/

I ended up updating to Ubuntu 18.04 dev. An update to the BIOS of my
laptop made it completely unstable to the point of not booting most of
the time. Ubuntu 18.04 seems to work fine so far.

Maybe we are facing different bugs. In my case, it does boot, but it

Joseph, the bisected kernel (4.13.0-33) seems to have the bug. It hangs

I am having the same problem as amaguran on an HP Envy 14 (2010) after
upgrading to 4.2.0-30 on Ubuntu 14.04. The vivid branch of the kernel

In my case, I am using Saucy exclusively in my laptop. So, I don't need
a backport. But, if this is a widespread problem, maybe is a good idea
for other people that may be suffering it in Precise (although, 14.04 is
getting closer).
I don't have a Precise installation anymore and, given that it is

However, this bug is solved in kernels 3.11 and upwards, so it is no
longer present in Ubuntu 13.10. I don't know about the new kernels in
12.04LTS though. If someone can test it, maybe this bug should be
closed.
