Note, this is a full installation log as Stefan asked for, and Mike is
still seeing issues.
I have tried the latest curtin-common and python-curtin from the wily
repositories running on 14.04.2:

e.) sudo reboot
You'll come back up with
this script attempts to do the following for
img=working.img device=/dev/working0
img=broken.img device='/dev/broken 0'
- create a file $img
- partition it with sfdisk
- losetup a device pointing to $img
- kpartx -a -v -p -part $LODEV
run the script and you can see, it will work for
also just now verified that it is broken in debian's unstable version
also (0.5.0-7)

it just works path a try.
I installed a system, it installed onto /dev/sda (as this bug shows).
I then 'apt-get install multipath-tools-boot'
I rebooted, with the 'root=LABEL=cloudimg-rootfs' on the cmdline (as
jpo, please feel free to open a bug on cloud-initramfs-tools for proper
'overlay' support without using overlayfs path.

So after some discussion, it seems that what we have is not entirely
unreasonable.
There would/could be some gain (possbly on the order of 70-80M in
/lib/modules). That includes removal of wireless modules, graphics drivers,

The other will not load the kvm_intel module.

I'm marking this invalid. Such a massive regression just didn't make
sense between -8 and -9. So I 'dpkg --remove'd the package and re-
isntalled it, and its fine. There had been an error in upgrade
previously (related to a python package, not kernel) and I suspect that
the initramfs didn't get
I'm now running upstream kernel and not seeing this issue. mplayer plays fine
and hangout does not have glitchy video.

I have just performed a clean install of Ubuntu 14.10 on a Samsung
Chronus 7 (700Z7C-S02UK), and this problem returned. This time, adding
acpi=noirq to GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT did not solve the issue (as
it did with Ubuntu 14.04). Instead, as mentioned in posts above,
