Just disabling the ghost display in the System Settings was not helpful
for me, as with this the "Mirror" mode for the actual display and the

I bought a ThinkPad T14 gen 5 in May this year. Worked perfectly with
Noble, but now, after the evil Oracular Oriole has eaten the nice cute
Numbats, I got the ghost screen as described in this bug report. This is
very disturbing, starting from the mouse pointer not stoppi

A already the command 'echo "Test" > /dev/lp0' causes the crash, it is
not caused by CUPS, but by the implementation of /dev/lp0 which is the
kernel.

The use of /usr/share/cups/usb/org.cups.usb-quirks makes it easier to
include printer-model-specific quirk rules into the packaging of Ubuntu.
This way on setup of a print queue the lpadmin command does not need to
be executed. CUPS already knows how to treat the printer by the
/usr/share/cups/usb/
The command
lpadmin -p Samsung-ML-1250 -o usb-no-reattach-default=true
saves the changes forever, the changes are kept also after a reboot.
To undo the changes, you have to run
lpadmin -p Samsung-ML-1250 -R usb-no-reattach-default

The final result of my bisect is actually what I guessed in the previous
comment (see output below). The patch (also below) is simple and one can
easily see that undoing it would solve the problem.
It seems that some monitors (including my monitor) report that they are

Yes, I have found out already that in the mainline I have to check 3.8
as newest good and 3.8.1 as oldest bad kernel release. Currently I am
doing a doing a GIT bisect between these two. According to the estimates

3.8.0-9.18. The changelog between the two releases is rather small but I
