I edited /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf file. I added the following line
at the end of the file:
blacklist elan_i2c
After that I rebooted the laptop but touchpad is still not recognized
Do I have to do any extra action to be sure it is using i2c-hid ?

prpduct version.
I have to point out two things:
1) I don't know how, but on ONE occasion TOUCHPAD WORKED with your
kernel. It worked with its basic functions. However never happened again
after several reboots.

I only added the following line on /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf
# Do not load elan_i2c module
blacklist elan_i2c
i2c-hid and hid-multitouch do not appear on blacklist.conf

I modified grub options to select the kernel version. Now "uname -r"

Touchpad is still not working. I run dmesg and udevadm again and attached the

I also noticed this, my laptop's integrated Intel audio device is also
missing from pulseaudio(both as input and output), but I can see other
HDMI or USB sound devices I may have attached and I can switch to them
and they work as expected.
