The only way to fix this is using libinput 13.
You might need to compile it, and those new drivers would fix it.
I tried libinput on fedora 30.
I do not know how to update/build libinput, though. (i am using linux mint
debian for now).
Can someone give us instructions?

I am supposed to edit file "/sys/class/dmi/id/modalias" and then play with the
configurations to adjust my touchpad. However. I am unable to edit the file
modalias. I even used administrator rights on Nautilus to adjust it, however it
still didn't let me edit the file.

Hello.. The bug is fixed on kernel 4.18.1-041801-generic
The bug is also not present on kernel 4.17.19-041719-generic
seems like the regression happened somewhere on 18.00

Hello.
I have the same laptop.. It malfunctions all the time. The touchpad has to be
used slowly or it freezes. and I am unable to drag and select/move text..
