I have a Asus G75VW and I've tried 12.04 & 13.10 and the F5 & F6 for
screen brightness doesn't work.
So Ubuntu can't fix this for us, we have to chase this after Upstream?
Personally I thought a big point to Ubuntu was to make for easier end-
user usage and support, so I don't think the end-user

Got it "almost" working on elementary OS Lune (based on Precise).
Used to modify /etc/default/grub and xorg.conf on my previous installs,
but brightness controls would only work after resuming from suspend.
I did a new install, and simply installed the latest Nvidia driver in
the repos (319), as
@Christopher: I ended up giving the G75 to my wife, and I got a System76
Bonobo Extreme, pre-installed with Ubuntu. Everything works as it should
on that puppy. :)
