Here is the lsusb -v of the disk -- I made a log before and after
plugging the disk in and diffed them.

Christopher, I can't update the BIOS as the only update utility is for
Windows 8.
And I can reproduce this behavior also on this machine:
Acer Aspire One AO756 with the newest BIOS (1.09 -- 2012/12/11)
The bug is a regression in 3.8.0-28 as it was working on both machines
prior to this kernel.
