If the 3.8.0-26.38-generic kernel is working well for you, I believe the best approach to this problem might be to remove the linux-image- extra-3.8.0-19-generic package entirely. Try this: apt-get purge linux-image-extra-3.8.0-19-generic linux- image-3.8.0-19-generic
