Christoper, i think, that NOT VirtualBox is the problem/bug. It seems that the kernel and/or other circumstances trigger the bug. VirtualBox itself works flawless and as expected. The massive operations on my LVM2 in combination of ext4 is for me the problem... I filed a second report here:
