Same problem for me in 14.04 - my (old) laptop just doesn't see my
Fujifilm XP200 anymore.
I'd love to help, upload reports or log files etc., but I just don't quite
understand how.
I see that penalvch has regularly requested more information about this issue

I think I may be hutting this problem too.
Everything all fine before upgrading to 14.04. Now my Fujifilm Finepix LSS
camera is not mountable.
The syslog shows the same as the OP:

Hi ALL,
I have to report the same problem on my Ubuntu 14.04 (previously - 13.10 and
12.04 - everything was okay) with my USB drive (WD My Passport).
There is no crashlog and the system hangs few seconds after I plugged-in the
USB cable and I cannot type any CLI command, only mouse works, but

Hi,
Just a few questions:
1. This is something you wish me to do while I try to connect to the
camera that is unrecognized? I ask because I am now at work and this
camera is at home, so I can probably not check it until tomorrow.
2. I am not so advanced in Ubuntu, so I do not really know what

My Cannon PowerShot S95 is not recognized on Ubuntu 14.04 64 bit either.

I can just add that it seems that the problem occurs in Ubuntu 14.04 generally
and depends on the type of camera. This goes for Dell Inspiron, Dell Latitude
and HP ZBook. My Nikon Coolpix S31 is not mounted although I can find it with
lsusb which gives:
Bus 003 Device 005: ID 04b0:0341 Nikon
Never had any problems with my Nikon and Ubuntu 13.04 or 13.10
But since the upgrade it is found
lsusb: Bus 001 Device 009: ID 04b0:032f Nikon Corp.
but not mounted anymore
