I'll try to get to this in mid-December. I have a travel schedule over the
next few weeks that makes it hard to try much. I do note that the
frequency of the problem (upgraded to 14.10, with 3.16.0-24; still using
proprietary nvidia drivers) has gone way down, and perhaps even gon
bhaskar, just to clarify, testing the latest mainline kernel (3.18-rc4)
would require not using the proprietary nvidia drivers, as the ones in
the Ubuntu repositories are built for them. However, this testing gives
a data point to if using the nvidia drivers is a potential root cause.
