On starting "System Settings" app, the screen blanks for 1 second then
reappears shifted left (by half an icon width) - or, if it was already
shifted left, shifted back again to the correct position
On booting the system, screen alternately comes up OK / shifted
[Also, running various things causes screen to blank - display often not
re-appearing (keyboard locks) until the power button is pressed - dunno
if related but appeared at same time with 14.04 upgrade]
These screen problems started occuring in 14.04 and were not present in
13.10
