It must be a problem with the Saphire model, or something else... But
I'm not sure what, as I tried it in several machines.
Anyway since it seems I'm the only one getting this, I think I will put
a Linux incompatible sticker on the card and repurpose it in a windows
machine, or a distro that
I could not reproduce the issue with the card (Gigabyte HD4550). 14.04
LiveUSB booted and played HDMI audio fine.

Hello, thanks for your interest.
You made some weird changes without waiting for my reply, this issue is with my
HD4550, nothing to do with the motherboard.
I can replicate the bug on several other motherboards, with different chipset (
will list it if needed).
