Bug report dialog set me to this thread.
I followed the link provided by Anthony Heiberg (above) and found that
only doing a
$ sudo apt-get remove bcmwl-kernel-source
(skipping the rest of the instructions) seems to have resolved it.

Myself and ShadowDave came across this error today when we wiped clean
