Vincent Jaubert, would you need a backport to a release prior to Vivid,
or may this be closed as Status Invalid?

I don't personally need a backport, but that could perhaps be useful for LTS
users, i don't know Ubuntu policy about that.

after a few seconds the left button doesn't work anymore...only after
clicking the right button and then it works for a few time. So on and so

I've a Fujitjsu E544 with ETPS/2 Elantech Touchpad.
I've tried Ubuntu 14.04 LTS and ubuntu 14.10, and touchpad doesn't work fine,

The problem has been solved in kernel v3.19-vivid
The patch to enable this touchpad on E554 and E544 has been pulled

Vincent Jaubert, just to advise, bugzilla is not reporting a problem
upstream, as it's considered legacy, upstream doesn't even look at it,
and it's the wrong venue for your problem. As well, nowhere in the

This issue appears to be an upstream bug, since you tested the latest
upstream kernel. Would it be possible for you to open an upstream bug
report[0]? That will allow the upstream Developers to examine the issue,
and may provide a quicker resolution to the bug.
