I've also been seeing this bug in kubuntu for about the last 6 months. The wifi
actually works when I come directly out of sleep mode but if the computer
screen is allowed to lock then afterwards the wifi is broken and journalctl
shows errors of the kind

I was also having this problem with 3.19.0-20-generic and have upgraded
to 4.1.0-040100rc2-generic from kernel-ppa (http://kernel.ubuntu.com
/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v4.1-rc2-vivid/). This appears to have resolved
it.

Did this issue start happening after an update/upgrade? Was there a
prior kernel version where you were not having this particular problem?
Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer
to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest
v4.1 kernel[0
